Palk Road became Darien Road in 1882.

Darien - in Central America - was the site of an unsuccessful attempt to set up Scotland’s only colony in the 1690s. Many of the streets of the development have an ’exploration’ theme.

Subsidiary names, abolished in 1882, were Wiltshire Terrace, Wharton Cottages and Marlborough Cottages.

The area was redeveloped in 1965 as part of the Winstanley Estate.
