In 1868, New Street and Husband Street were collectively renamed Ingestre Place.

This name change to Ingestre Place was inspired by a block of artisans’ dwellings called Ingestre Buildings, which had been constructed at the initiative of Lord Ingestre on a site that faced both New Street and Husband Street between 1853 and 1855.
