The Barrow Hill Estate in St John’s Wood was started in abut 1937.

The Barrow Hill Estate is formed of eight inter-war social housing blocks arranged around a central courtyard with Robin House forming the main front onto Newcourt Street. The red brick blocks vary in scale from the largest, Robin House, which rises seven storeys plus dormered roof, to the lower side blocks which are four storeys with flat roofs.

Accessed via openings in Robin House and Swallow House, there is a central courtyard space containing a number of ancillary buildings and lawned areas. At the north end is the ‘Village Club’, a community hall.

It was named after Barrow Hill which rivals Primrose Hill in elevation over the surrounding land.
