Yelverton Road has survived the redevelopment which overtook other nearby streets.

West of Battersea High Street, land in the angle between York Road and the railway tracks was built from the late 1860s onwards as two adjoining estates of small houses. Both estates were planned by George Todd.

Yelverton Road was part of a grid of streets, the others of which were called Harroway Road, Holman Road, Totteridge Road and Urswicke Road.
