Lime Grove, W12
Shepherd’s Bush Market
Lime Grove is previously known for its BBC studios.

Lime Grove appeared unnamed on an 1757 map - there were no buildings marked. A later map recorded it as White Horse Lane.

Angela Burdett-Coutts, a banking heiress, partnered with the novelist Charles Dickens in 1847 to establish a charitable home for "fallen women". Urania Cottage, located in Lime Grove, was deemed to be a suitable location for this initiative. The project operated for a decade before concluding.

In 1915 the Gaumont Film Company built a studio on the adjacent land, the first purpose-built film studio in Britain.
