Newtown Street, SW8
Queenstown Road station dates from 1877 when it was known as Queen’s Road.

The station followed the building of a new road link from Clapham to Battersea Park, and across the river via Chelsea Bridge.

Formerly Palmerston Street until 1937.

Newtown Street was named after Battersea New Town, which actually laid some distance to the east.

Palmerston Street was badly damaged during the Second World War. It was redeveloped in 1958 as part of the Doddington Estate.
