Old Ford Road runs eastwards from Cambridge Heath Road, eventually leading to Old Ford.
Old Ford Road was once known as Old Ford Lane. Before even that, a pre-Roman road followed a route from Oxford Street and Old Street to Old Ford, crossed Bethnal Green, and probably in part followed the line of Hackney Road and Old Ford Road. The king’s way from Bethnal Green to Old Ford, identifiable from abutments as Old Ford Road, was mentioned around 1549 and was probably from the Middle Ages the route to Bishop’s Hall.
Its eastern section was straightened in 1844 when Victoria Park was created.
