Station Road was formerly called Burroughs Lane and led from the Burroughs to Edgware Road south of Silk Bridge.

The lane, prior to the station being built was firmly in existence in 1754 but then simply a winding track.

Joseph Neeld, a solicitor, bought houses and land in Brent Street and Burroughs Lane from Joseph Crosse Crooke in 1809.

Neeld Terrace on Station Road was built in the 1870s, soon after Hendon railway station opened. Neeld Crescent in Hendon Central is also named after the family.
