Cundy Road, E16
I lived there for about 3 years after I was born in 1946. My grandparents uncle & aunt also lived there along with two female cousins. All Andersons’. My elder sister, 5 years older than me, also went to school locally, Shipman Road School I believe. I would love to hear from somebody who still
remembers us.

The Bombing of Nant Street WW2
My uncle with his young son and baby daughter were killed in the bombing of Nant Street in WW2. His wife had gone to be with her mother whilst the bombing of the area was taking place, and so survived. Cannot imagine how she felt when she returned to see her home flattened and to be told of the death of her husband and children.

Malcolm Davey at Raleigh House, Dolphin Square
My former partner, actor Malcolm Davey, lived at Raleigh House, Dolphin Square, for many years until his death. He was a wonderful human being and an even better friend. A somewhat underrated actor, but loved by many, including myself. I miss you terribly, Malcolm. Here’s to you and to History, our favourite subject.

1 Abourne Street
My mother, and my Aunt and my Aunt’s family lived at number 1 Abourne Street.
I remember visitingn my aunt Win Housego, and the Housego family there. If I remember correctly virtually opposite number 1, onthe corner was the Lord Amberley pub.

Detailed history of Red Lion
I’m not the author but this blog by Dick Weindling and Marianne Colloms has loads of really clear information about the history of the Red Lion which people might appreciate.

Beckton Park

Beckton Park station lies on the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) in east London.

The station is located by the north quay of the Royal Albert Dock and is opposite Beckton District South Park, which is open space leading to housing in South Beckton. It was in 2020 noted as the most lightly used station on the DLR. A previous railway station called Central was located largely on the same site from 1880 to 1940, on the former line from Custom House to Gallions.

Along with neighbouring Cyprus station, Beckton Park station is of an unusual design. Between the two stations, the DLR runs in the median of a major road built at the same time as the railway. The stations are located at junctions which take the form of roundabouts. On the approach to the roundabout, the road rises slightly whilst the railway dips slightly.

Connaught Bridge from the air (2019) The rotating bridge carries the A1020 road over the link between Victoria Dock (on left) and Albert Dock. There is a separate rotating bridge (on the left) for pedestrians and cyclists. The bridge control cabin can be seen near the top of the tower in the central reservation, above the near bank. The Docklands Light Railway (between Prince Regent and Royal Albert stations) can be seen in the background.
