Satchwell Rents owes its origins to a set of buildings dating from 1689.

The Satchwell (Satchell) family leased the eastern part of an estate called Tyssens by 1657. The family was responsible for the buildings called Satchwell Rents at the eastern end of the estate by 1689.

The Borough had planned for the demise of Satchwell Rents before the war. Compulsory purchase had begun by 1939 and building began in 1945 on some of the Avebury estate, the first sections of which opened in 1948. Satchwell Rents was briefly renamed Satchwell Road until the latter replaced the street, mostly built in the late 1950s and sited slightly further east.
