Este Road dates from 1871 - it was formerly Grove Road.

It was most likely named after the Villa d’Este near Rome, famous for its water gardens.

It had subsidiary names along its length: Alfred Terrace, South Terrace, Eccleston Terrace, Grove Terrace and Wayford Terrace were abolished in 1871; South Grove in 1867.
