Chandos Road, WD6
Chandos Road was constructed upon a remaining field of Tilehouse Farm.

Chandos Road was built later than most roads of the northern Borehamwood estate.

Tilehouse Farm (situated on Theobald Street) had had most of its land turned over for development. By the turn of the 1970s, all of the land that had been contiguous with the farmhouse had been developed - Stratfield Road being the latest.

The farm had one remaining field - given over to pasture. It was bounded by the houses between 68-82 Theobald Street, Croxdale Road, Barton Way and Stratfield Road (and its cul-de-sacs, Lexington Close and Haddon Close).

In 1970, most of this final large field was slated for development and Chandos Road built upon it on a circular pattern. Interestingly, Lexington Close and Haddon Close became the access roads and they stopped being cul-de-sacs but kept their names.
