The artsdepot is a multi-purpose cultural centre located in North Finchley and opened on 23 October 2004.

The site where the artsdepot was finally built had been empty for twenty years after the closure of the Gaumont cinema in 1980.

The facility comprises two main theatre spaces, dance and drama studios, a gallery space and a cafe. The programme of performances ranges from theatre, to live music, comedy, dance, visual art, spoken word and children’s events.

The artsdepot was initially conceived in 1996 after a consultation period with local residents as to what they would like to see in the borough of Barnet in the new millennium.

The developers - Taylor Woodrow - conceived plans for the Tally Ho regeneration in which artsdepot is located. Most costs for the artsdepot came from the commercial development.

In December 2001, the site’s foundation stone was laid by the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, the late Tessa Jowell.

The building was officially opened on 26 November 2004 by HRH The Earl of Wessex.
