Lordship Terrace, N16
Stoke Newington
Lordship Terrace was previously Meadow Street.

Church Street and Paradise Row ran across the middle of Stoke Newington parish from east to west. Adjacent to Church Street, on its north side, starting from the east side of the ’Red Lion’ inn, there was a lane called Lordship Lane and Red Lion Lane (now known as Lordship Road) that extended northward. A footpath also existed, traversing the fields towards Stamford Hill, following a similar direction to the present-day Manor Road.

Lordship Lane was subsequently extended further northward and made a right-angle turn westward (now referred to as Woodberry Down) to intersect with the road leading from Hornsey Wood House.

Meadow Street (presently known as Lordship Terrace) and Edwards Lane had already been constructed by that time. Robinson’s Map depicts Queen Elizabeth’s Walk, which ran northward and aligned with the ponds in the park. From that location, a footpath is indicated across the "great square meadow," connecting with Green Lanes at the point where the Waterworks gates now stand.
