Rupert Street was situated to the east of Leman Street.

In the eighteenth century Rupert Street had housed a number of sugar refineries.

The construction of a goods yard between Lambeth Street and Backchurch Lane, resulted in the relocation of Gower’s Walk Free School to Rupert Street.

John’s Court joined Rupert Street and Lambeth Streets, and a school marked Little Alie Street Secondary School’ was show here for a time.

There was a pub, The Crown, at 14 Rupert Street.

The street was renamed Goodman Street in the twentieth century, prior to the 1970s redevelopment of the whole area into the National Westminster Bank’s Goodman’s Fields ’campus’.
