Stranraer Place was a former name for the eastern section of Sutherland Avenue.

A leading builder along Edgware Road was Hugh Biers, described as an ’auctioneer and surveyor’. He had land by 1828 in Maida Vale, where Hugh Biers the elder, had built two houses. The younger Biers, had plans for a street called Stranraer Place by 1832.

Sutherland Avenue was formed in 1887 by combining the former Sutherland Gardens and Stranraer Place.
