A new street called Stratfield Road was run through an area of vestigial farmland in 1966.
A housing shortage - there’s always a housing shortage - led 1960s planners to look to high-rise solutions. Canterbury House therefore ran to 18 storeys. Construction started in 1966 and finished in 1968. Renovations were made in 2006.
